I ("Aaminah" aka Julie) have been learning Arabic Dance for ten years, I have been performing during the last five years and have been teaching this art form which I love for four years. I have been trained by Jacqueline Chapman and then Josephine Wise and Galit Mersand in London . I have attended master classes by Za Za, Proffessor Khalil, Hossam Ramzy, Yousry Sharif, Foufa-El-Faransawy, Aido Noor, Dina, Raqia Hassan and Mahmoud Reda of Cairo , Birgul of Istanbul and others. In 2004 I completed my Teacher Training Diploma in Arabic Dance through JWAAD (Josephine Wise Academy of Arabic Dance). I passed with two merits and one distinction for practice of teaching.
I have danced at private functions and appeared in several small Arabic Dance shows inludingFantasia in London as well as ITV2's the Body Farm and on ITV1s This Morning Show with Richard and Judy.
Myself and my friend Sharlene have successfully produced the Jewels of the Nile show an amazing evening of Middle Eastern dance performances at the Luton Library theatre for three years now and will be producing our fourth show at the end of May 2009.
